Americans are on their way to spending $60 billion on their pets this year, Pet Supplies Plus, a franchise based in Livonia, Michigan, reported. Pet owners are beginning to spend as much money on their pets as they do on other family members. The American Pet Products Association (APPA) reported that the average shopper spent $30 on their pet for Christmas in 2014. The APPA has also reported that pet owners spend the most on food for their pets, with $23.04 billion being spent on pet food in 2015 so far. While 2015 is expected to have the highest US expenditures on pet supplies, the national expenditure has been steadily increasing every year.
